All of our mahogany decking is clear Kiln Dried clear, S4S (surfaced 4 sides).
Bridgetown Mahogany is manufactured only from species that are strong and durable. It is graded for consistent color, high quality and pleasing appearance. Your investment will last for years with proper care. Bridgetown Mahogany is sourced only from countries that are leaders in ecological sustained forestry practices.
- Bridgetown Mahogany is a kiln-dried hardwood. Adequate airflow under the deck is essential.
- Kiln-dried deck boards will not shrink appreciably after installation. They will, however, expand during periods of high humidity or prolonged rainfall. Allow 1/4" between boards for seasonal expansion. End joints can be tight, as mahogany will not expand lengthwise.
Joist Spacing
Because of the strength of 5/4 mahogany decking, your deck can be framed with joists 24" apart. 16" on center spacing is not necessary but if used, will increase strength and durability even further.
Deck Board Spacing

To allow for seasonal and moisture expansion, leave a 1/4" space between deck boards. Mahogany will not expand/contract lengthwise so end cuts can be installed tight.
Fastening

We recommend drilling pilot holes to minimize splitting during installation like all hardwoods will do.
Use 2-1/4" screws or ring-shank nails, no closer than 3/4" to the edge or end of the deck board.
Proper protection of your mahogany deck can be obtained by staining all 4 sides of each board. We do offer a pre-staining service to make this process much quicker. Read more about this service by reading about
PRE-STAINING SERVICE.
The cost of Mahogany wood can vary from supplier to supplier, mostly depending on the quality of the lumber. Quicker growing second-growth lumber is cheaper to produce but the larger growth rings can twist and split easier than a high quality material. To get our latest pricing on Mahogany decking,
